We all need a end of the year list right?


There was some good stuff this year. Right now I'm listening to Bon Iver's" for Emma, forever ago" It's got a folksy quality I like. though with the horns it's a little Cake-esque. Maybe if John McCrae wasn't such a... (sorry, as a Sacramentan who's seen them for ages, and former friends with his brother, Greg I feel okay with saying that) he would make this type of music.
 

I also love Death Cab for Cutie's "Narrow Stairs"  a very good indie style disc

If you're into World, I just listened to "Welcome to Mali" by Amadou and Miriam, has some fabulous instrumentation. There's even an appearance by Toumani Diabati-- the ing of Kora! 

Em's says her contribution to the list is Disturbia by Rihanna . Since she's a 13 year old girl, I'll give her a pass on that one. If I had to name a good dance song this year I'd pick the Ting-Tings "Shut Up and Let Me Go" but there are many many others to move to. I loved Santogold ,and of course Estelle's "American Boy"

So that's dance stuff-- but I love pop, rock, metal, folk, world, classical. really I could go on and on...
Music is really my heart and soul--it's power is amazing and heals me from my darkest moods.
